Creating a page is easy because it has the same module system that you are used to seeing at sites like Squidoo and Hubpages. No HTML experience is necessary at all. There is a rich text editor that makes formatting really easily in comparison to other sites.
What I Like About Zujava
There are some things I really like about Zujava, one of them being the easy set up as I mentioned earlier. Another thing I like about the site is that it allows me to write about any topic. I have blogs, but they are niche specific for the most part so I don't have a place to put random things.
The owner seems to care about the content and writers on his site (I don't know him personally though). He doesn't allow you to copy the same topics as other people too closely, which I personally love. On Squidoo, you get a lot of people copying your topics if you start doing well with something, people are such jerks! At Zujava though, people are not allowed to copy your topics to closely or they risk being locked.
At Zujava, you begin accruing ad revenue earnings right away, unlike Squidoo, where you have to wait until the start of a new month. Payday is on the 15th of every month, you are paid after the first 90 days (Squidoo is 60 days).
One of the best things about Zujava is that there is no way to see another persons rank. I love that because people are not going to reject "liking" the page because they fear losing ZQ (rank). Not that the rank pays anything substantial (yet). The ad revenue may never be as high as Squidoo because the ads are not as intense over there, which I also like. Zujava has minimal ads, they do not have full page ads that take over the whole screen, what a refresher that is.
Referrals to Zujava are great because they pay you 20% of whatever that person earns. I have a couple of referrals, one of them should pay off pretty good, eh Lauren? I personally love sites that do this but I wonder how long it will be around. Squidoo had something similar but they discontinued it.
What I Dislike About Zujava
It's not all rainbows and roses over at the Zu. There are some pitfalls to writing there too. One of them being, it's the same crowd from Squidoo. If you are not from the Squidoo community, this won't concern you much, but if you are, it could detour you from using the site.
I don't like the specifics of the dashboard, it is not nearly as detailed as Squidoo's is, hopefully they improve on this over the next few months or years. Currently there is no breakdown of earnings given to you at payday, this drives me bonkers! I have no idea what I have been paid for unless I go back into every leaf and add it myself. If there is an easier way, someone please comment and let me know.
Ranking in Google takes longer (or so it seems) on Zujava. I don't get immediate results usually, I have a couple times, but for the most part, it's a slow start out the gate.
The community is lacking currently at the Zu. I don't see a huge support team of people yet, but hopefully that will change as they grow? One can only hope because the Facebook groups are dead and the visits from other members of the Zu are lacking. The forum is pretty closely policed but I tend to avoid those because they seem to be a breeding ground for evil. Not saying that the Zujava forum is evil, just forums in general are places I try to avoid after personal experiences in the one at Squidoo.
One last thing, you cannot use personal amazon links on Zujava. Boooo.. This is sad because I love using my own links and earning an income though them. When you use the Zujava amazon module you only get 50% of whatever they earn (60% after you have 25 leaves). I would rather have 50% of something than a 100% of nothing so I still write here regardless of this awful rule. Also, you cannot use Viglinks or Clickbank links, so that could determine whether or not you use them as well?
